DOTr: Concessionary Beep Cards Available Starting September 15
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that personalized concessionary Beep cards will be available beginning September 15.
Students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) can avail these personalized cards and automatically get a 50% fare discount when riding the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2.
MRT-3 train going from GMA-Kamuning to Quezon Avenue
Claiming:
Students may claim their concessionary Beep cards at designated printing booths in all train stations by presenting a valid school ID or school registration form.
Senior citizens and PWDs, meanwhile, need only present their valid IDs to qualify.
Validity:
For students, the concessionary Beep card is valid for one year and may be renewed annually with the same requirements.
Senior citizens and PWDs, however, will receive cards with lifetime validity that do not require renewal.
The concessionary Beep card carries a one-time issuance fee of ₱30, the same price as the standard blue Beep card. The DOTr reminded all concessionary cardholders to load their Beep card before use. Loading options are available at station tellers, ticket vending machines, and through the Beep mobile app.
With the rollout of concessionary Beep cards, the DOTr aims to make daily train commutes more affordable, convenient, and accessible for students, seniors, and PWDs.
